Sublessors / Tenants
Listing a sublet or roommate wanted ad costs $14 for a maximum of five months OR until the unit is rented or inactivated.Owners / Managers
Fees for owners/managers are determined by total number of units owned/managed. A unit is an individual, locked rental. Please note that VIP staff reserve the right to confirm your total number of units owned/managed based on the records of the VIP, the City of Madison Assessor web site, Access Dane, and survey information. Falsification and/or misrepresentation of this information may result in suspension or rejection of listing privileges. Click here for more information.
Owners/managers with 6 or less rental units are charged $22 per VACANT unit advertised for a maximum of five months.
If an owner/manager has multiple vacant units at an address that are similar or identical, s/he is charged $22 per vacancy NOT $22 per listing.
Owners/managers with 7 or more rental units are asked to contact the Housing Coordinator at 263-2452. Rates vary depending on location and number of units.
If you are unsure how your situation fits with our fee structure, we will work with you to see how our service can best meet your needs.
The use of the VIP's Campus Area Housing Listing Service by owners or managers with an inventory of 7 or more rental units is by annual subscription only and is based on the total number of rental units owned or managed. Please contact Campus Area Housing at 263-2452 if you have questions.
2. Where can my housing listing be found?
- You may locate your listing on our Campus Area Housing web site.
- Check out your listing from any terminal that has access to the Internet.
3. When will my listing appear?
Listings that are paid for appear online within 1-2 business days. Listings that are modified will be reviewed (becoming temporarily inactive) and placed online within 1-2 business days.
4. How long will my unit be listed?
- Your listing will remain active until it is rented or inactivated for a MAXIMUM OF 5 MONTHS depending upon date listed and rental season.
- Summer sublets that have not expired will be removed by mid-August.
- You will receive an automatic email every two weeks to check the listing status. You will also receive an email before the 5 month expiration. At that time you may renew the listing by submitting a payment.
5. How should I list my unit
if available/expiration dates overlap rental seasons?
Ask a VIP staff person to explain the different rental seasons and how your listing can be modified.
6. What if I want to make a change on my listing?
- Changes to listings may be made:
- Online at www.campusareahousing.wisc.edu
- Over the phone at 263-2400
- In person at the Red Gym or Welcome Center
- By email to campusareahousing@uwmad.wisc.edu
- All changes requested MUST be applicable to the ORIGINAL ADDRESS(ES)
and/or APARTMENT #’s listed.
- Changes to the date available can generally be made as long as the
listing remains in the SAME RENTAL SEASON — exceptions may be
made by the Campus Area Housing Coordinator. Advertisers are required to
give a justification for changes to the date available—i.e., need
additional time to remodel, decided to stay in Madison longer, etc.
EXAMPLE: - You may change an availability date from August 15, 2007 to September 1, 2007 because both dates are within the Fall rental season. You may not change an availability date from August 15, 2007 to January 1, 2008 because January falls in the Spring rental season.
7. What do I do when my unit
is rented?
Please inactivate your listing when your unit is no longer available by logging in to your account online or calling the Campus Information Center at 608-263-2400.
8. What are your listing policies
- i.e., refund, compliance, privacy, etc.?
Please see the Listing
Terms and Conditions page.
9. Is this website secure? Can anyone else make changes to my profile or listings? Is it safe to enter my credit card information?
Yes, this is a secure web site. Your profile and listing information are username and password protected. In addition to you (or anyone you supply your username and password to), VIP staff with administrative access rights are the only other party who may make changes to your information. Similar to other UW-Madison departments, the Campus Area Housing web site and listing database are located on a secure server at the Division of Information Technology (DoIT). Credit card transactions are performed over a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) connection between your web browser and the DoIT web server. This technology scrambles or encrypts the data between your browser and the DoIT server, making it useless to hackers.
