Faculty-owned, fully-furnished home available for rent during our sabbatical, from roughly mid-August 2026 to early/mid-June 2027.
Old stone barn from 1864, now three bedroom, two bath home, with additional study.
Living room with vaulted ceilings looks out into treetops in summer and is filled with sunlight in winter. Lots and lots of books. Skylights.
Cook's kitchen is fully equipped with great pots & pans, dishwasher, induction stovetop and electric oven for baking.
Large master bedroom with three-quarter bath (and cool old beam above bed).
Two additional sunny bedrooms and full bathroom (toilet, bathtub, shower above bathtub).
An additional study has exercise equipment, a futon for guests, and opens to a sunny screened-in porch.
Storage/utility room with washer and dryer, extra freezer.
Screened-in porch, front porch, grill. Garage.
The master bedroom is downstairs, the living areas and two other bedrooms are upstairs, the study is downstairs on the other side of the garage.
Large corner lot so plenty of room for playing. Lots of flowers, trees, established herbs for cooking, compost bin, clothesline. We would be open to leaving our two bikes for your use.
The house is in the Westmorland neighborhood on a number of bus-lines (including campus, down-town, Hamilton Middle School, and West High). We are in easy walking distance of two parks, a local library, golf course, coffee shops, ice-cream store and local pizza restaurant, gym, and Midvale elementary school and West High. Close to bike path to campus and down-town. Happy, peaceful, very safe neighborhood with lots of children, older adults, and young couples. Less than five minute drive to twice-a-week farmer's market (we walk there), grocery stores (e.g., Hilldale), Lake Wingra where one can rent boats, the arboretum for woodland walks.
Generally, no pets allowed - family members have allergies to cats and dogs, alas. We might possibly open to a small, caged pet. No smoking of any kind in the house.
We currently have cable TV and high speed wifi, will leave wifi and pay for it. We can discuss cable. You would pay for gas and electricity and water though we would prefer to keep these in our name. There is central heating and AC in the main part of the house (with timer so it can go down during the day while you are away), and separate heating in the third bedroom and study, which means that if those parts of the house aren't used, they don't have to be heated as much.
