I am finishing my Master's degree in December and looking for someone to sublet my bedroom in a 2-bedroom/1-bathroom apartment since I'm moving out of Wisconsin to start a new job. I need someone to move in between January 1-February 1, and the current lease runs until August 15, 2016, so that would be the sub-lease term. If you like the place and get along with my roommate, you're welcome to talk to our landlord about re-signing sometime in the spring. You'd be living with my roommate Emma---a somewhat recent college graduate with a full-time job. She would prefer to find a female roommate close to her in age and lifestyle preferences (who is relatively tidy). She's very clean and organized, and a great roommate and friend who I will be sad to leave! Location: It's close enough to the action that you can walk downtown yet far enough away to have some peace and quiet. It's also really close to Tenney Park, EVP, Willy Street Co-Op, Brink Lounge, and High Noon Saloon, which is great if you're into the live music scene, the outdoors, and/or good food and drink. The neighborhood has lots of grad students, couples, and young professionals---it's a nice and safe neighborhood, pretty quiet place to live. About a 12-15 minute bike ride to campus, or about 15 minutes by bus (there are a few stops within a few blocks, very easy to get to). I lived here for 2 years in part because the location's really hard to beat! Apartment: Has lots of good lighting, hardwood floors in bedrooms, hallways, and living room. Common areas are already fully furnished by Emma. It is one of two 2-bedroom apartments in a 4-unit apartment building (the other two are 1-bedroom units), so there are currently only ~5 other people living in the building. Bedroom: The bedroom has a closet and nice big windows with blinds and curtains. Currently it's furnished and you're welcome to purchase all the furniture from me for $170, or just whichever pieces you want: - tall bookshelf: $30 - 6-drawer dresser: $10 - small shelf on wheels: $10 - queen mattress and boxspring: $100 - bedframe: $30 (Also, Emma was currently letting me borrow a small end table and a hanging wall mirror, if you would like to use those too.) Selling points: - There is ample storage in the apartment itself (hall closet, coat closet, bathroom linen closet) plus a nice big storage locker in the basement common area. - You can also store your bike inside in the basement year-round! - Recently, some tenants in the building have started a small garden out back behind the building and I'm sure you'd be welcome to share with them. - Plenty of on street parking. We're in the Snow Emergency Zone, so you don't have to move your car every day during the winter like you do if you live in some other areas of Madison =/ - Coin-operated washer and dryer in the basement Pets: not allowed unfortunately (except for caged animals and fish, etc.) Rent and utilities: $455 per month, does not include heat/electricity ($50-60/month). Cable TV and internet: $50/month through Emma (but if you only want internet, the price would be lower). We install A/C window units in the summer. Logistics: Your name will be put on the lease with Emma's, which means you will need to complete a formal application with our landlord. He looks for people who have 2 years of good rental history and a steady income from a non-temporary job. He may/may not request a background check as well.
